The Hungarian Puli named Jamaica

There is one family member that I have left out of my blog so far. Not intentionally but more so because she is hard to capture in pictures where you can even tell what she is. So, without further delay, please meet Jamaica...

They are technically called cords, but we call them dreadlocks (and so does everyone else who passes by on a walk).

She is a pretty rare breed and draws lots of attention when we are out (which the girls absolutely love). The first question we always get is, "Does her hair naturally do that?!". This is where the hubs looks at me in a way that says, "Kristen, please don't give a sarcastic answer here. I'm sure most people have never even heard of this breed, let alone see one in person." I then bite my tongue, swallow the blood and say "Yes, it does that naturally with a bit of help to make sure it doesn't turn into one big matted mess." When I really want to say, "Really?! Do you think we are those crazy people that just decided to give our dog dreadlocks for the fun of it?!". The second question always warms me back up though because I know they are going to smile when they hear the answer. It is..."What's her name?" and when we say, "Jamaica" they love it!

Jamaica has a heart as big as the Grinch's when he finds out the true meaning of Christmas. She knows when you need a friend, she knows when a storm is coming, she knows when a stranger is near. She always puts our family's wants and needs before hers. She may scratch at us a few times to remind us that she has some needs too but she is always gentle about it.



 It's hard to tell where her face is without her tongue sticking out!
