Weekend Breakfast at Our House...

For the most part, on Saturdays my husband and I try to sleep in a bit and catch up from the week. We can hear the girls playing down the hall in either of their bedrooms. Sometimes they play Littlest Pet Shop (okay, most of the time it is Littlest Pet Shop), other times it is school for their AG dolls and stuffed animals and other times it is just pure imagination without any props.

After a while, they become hungry though and since it is the weekend...they want Daddy's pancakes.

I listen from upstairs (because I still haven't gotten my lazy bum out of bed) to a Daddy and his two girls playing chef. He gives sweet instructions on where to find everything that they will need from mixing bowls to ingredients. I hear them giggle every once in a while because Daddy is doing something silly. Very soon I am aware of the wonderful smell of pancakes making their way up the stairs and shortly thereafter I hear, "Mommy, breakfast is ready."

This is when I finally get out of bed and go downstairs to usually something like this...

This a breakfast morning from 2006
on Bean's 2nd birthday
and the fun with their Daddy still continues
P.S. I love their Daddy's pancakes too...especially when he adds cinnamon!

Lol such a cute photo. My husband does the same thing on the weekends. He will make pancakes and the kids will devour them.

Sounds like the weekends are a fun time at your house Kristen :) I think it's great that your hubby cooks with the girls..I'm sure that's something they'll always remember. The pictures of the girls with the orange slices is so cute lol :) xo

Love the picture! My dad would make breakfast Saturday mornings and I loved it! When I was pregnant I used to go over there just to get him to make me breakfast :) I'm sure your girls will remember this forever :)

The more you compliment your husband, the more likely he is to make breakfast, well played!

As for the picture. Don't you look back and just want to die at your cute kids. Cameras are the best invention ever because life goes in such warp speed and you're constantly moving on to the next thing that your memory just goes.

I look back at so many pictures and they take my breath away, I am so glad I took them.

I also remember looking at my nursing babies wanting to burn that memory into my mind. It's still there and I hope it never goes away.

Daddy's alway make the BEST pancakes. For some reason, the women in my family do all the cooking except for the pancakes. lol

Isn't it great when they start to get old enough to get up on their own? I can't wait until that happens here. ;)

What a cute picture! And lovely that you get to spend the time in bed while Dad is with the girls. Good for them AND good for you. :)

I want to come to your house on the weekends! I love to listen to my husband with our girls too (and the boy, but it's "different" when he's just with the girls). Nice that you get to stay in bed until it's time to eat.

Okay, I'm super jealous. No. 1, you get to sleep in on the weekends and No. 2, you get breakfast made for you? Now you're probably going to tell me they bring your breakfast to you in bed!! Lucky Mommy!! I'm obviously doing something wrong - haha!

Love it! We make Saturday morning for pancakes, too. It was Sunday until we started going to church. So now we make big breakfasts on Saturday. Pancakes are the best. What kind does Chris make? I think I remember you mentioning chocolate chips before.

So sweet. I can't think of much I find sweeter than a dad and his daughters. Such a good dad to fix them breakfast. :-)

Oh my gosh I love that picture of them!

My husband and I used to take turns sleeping in on the weekends.

But now with every weekend being so full of activities there is no sleeping in!

I am looking forward to that time when we can sleep in again.

That's the cutest photo! My 3-year-old was just doing that with his orange yesterday. He was so excited to show me. :)

My husband is usually our pancake/waffle maker too.
