Christmas Music Already?!

Yesterday, in the mall, while shopping for Ash (she has grown yet again and nothing fits) with a friend, not only did we see the sales associates setting up Christmas trees, wreaths and giant, fake present stacks...we heard Christmas music.

Bean & Ash - Christmas 2005
I love Christmas music as much as the next girl but the day after Halloween?! Really?! What happened to Thanksgiving?! I guess that doesn't "sell" as well and the stores just decide to skip over it.

I'm not ready for Christmas! I don't want to think about it, hear about it and/or sing about it! But what did I find myself doing while making dinner this evening?! SINGING RUDOLPH THE RED NOSED REINDEER...THAT'S WHAT!!

I want to slow it down. I want to enjoy Fall. I want to see hues of orange and yellow not red and green. I want to bake pumpkin pies (well, really I just want to eat them...I want someone else to bake them) not sugar cookies in the shapes of Christmas trees, stockings and holly leaves. I want to eat Reese's PB cups in the shapes of pumpkins not Christmas trees. (How do I always end up talking about sweets?!) I want to light my Yankee Candles scented like Autumn Fruit and Autumn Leaves not Christmas at the Beach or Deck the Halls.

Most importantly, I want time to think about what I am thankful for and share it with my loved ones. Why would anyone want to skip over such an important holiday?

Do you think that Christmas decorations and music are brought out too early or do you get excited about it?

I've linked up with Shell again at Things I Can't Say for her weekly Pour Your Heart Out. You can too! Head on over, leave a comment and link up!

You know I do think it is too early. But this year I appreciate it as I want to organize an Mommy Advent Study and this gives me the kick in the pants to get started before it's too late!!!

Some places had Christmas decs 7 merchandise out before Halloween! Christmas is my favorite holiday season but even I don't start listening to music until Thanksgiving eve.

I like to plan ahead, but it seems to be getting ridiculous. Michael's craft store has been doing the Christmas thing since July and now everything is on clearance! That's just wrong. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, so Christmas can wait! We usually wait until the day after Thanksgiving. If Christmas lasts for three months, it isn't special.

I have to admit, I'm such a bah humbug, so Christmas music at all (unless my son and I are baking cookies together which I love) makes me wanna puke. And just after Halloween? gross! I have XM radio and the christmas music station kicks in at midnight on october 31st/nov 1st. lol. Holidays just make me stressed out.

OK, I admit it. I was singing Christmas songs yesterday. I look so forward to them, and to me Christmas and Thanksgiving sort of go together.

Though one year I put up my Christmas tree in early November. It was too much. By Christmas time is wasn't so much fun any more. I think I'll wait until at least mid November this year. :)

When I worked at Marshall Field's, they put up the Christmas decorations after September 11th. Seemed wrong for many reasons.

My husband has a strict day-after rule for holidays. No decorating or planning for Thanksgiving until the day after Halloween, and the same for Christmas.

This year, we decided to repaint the living room in the middle of October meaning all of our Halloween decorations weren't even out for long, so I'm a little more anxious to get into the holiday decorating. But holiday music already? I think I would have cried. lol

Stopping by from pyho!

I think that it shouldn't be allowed to decorate for Christmas in shops before December 1st!

Definitely too early. I'm with you - I love, love, love Christmas, but I don't want to get burnt out on it. I want to take my time and enjoy all the pleasures of Fall before we head into Christmas. There's something about the anticipation of Christmas that makes it special.

Besides, after Christmas what's there to look forward to? Three months of bleh. Don't rush it, people!

Definitely too early; the commercialization of xmas is why I haven't enjoyed the holidays in several years. (Decorations were out at Michaels at the end of August--no joke).

Oh I hate how Christmas stuff is in the store when Halloween hasn't even happened yet. It's like they skip over Thanksgiving all together then. We ran into a store on the way home today and Christmas music was playing, on a radio station! I remember when it used to not be on the radio until after Thanksgiving...

Ok, I have to admit. My ringtone is "We wish you a Merry Christmas". LOL!! I love this season of Thanksgiving and Christmas. I hate the retail end of it, but I love the Christmas songs, and spirit. We noticed Christmas items up in September!! That's crazy!

They were putting out Christmas decor at Costco when it was still 112 degrees in Texas. Now that made me mad! lol
