I Finally Feel at Home...

It's hard to make friends in a new town. It's even harder to make friends in a new town when you work full time. As of this month, we have been in our home for three years.

View from our front walkway

For the last six months...
  • I have had the privilege of being a stay at home
  • I have been able to be more involved at my girls' school
  • I have been able to RSVP yes instead of no
  • I have been able to hang out at the bus stop before and after the bus arrives

A view from our front porch

In the last six months...
  • I have had the time to be an assistant coach for my youngest daughter's lacrosse team
  • I have had the time to not only head coach my oldest daughter's field hockey team but assist the head coach of my youngest daughter's field hockey team
  • I have had the time to help other parents by covering things for their children while they have work commitments

A view from our backyard after a snowfall

I have made some wonderful friendships with amazing people. I have come to adore the girls on all of the teams I have supported. I feel that my friends that are working know that I understand that things get crazy at times and that I am happy to help them in any way that I can. I believe that I can count on people to help me or my family and I believe they feel the same way about me.

Today...
  • My heart feels full and happy
  • I finally feel at home
  • I know I wouldn't want to live anywhere else but here

So glad you feel at home now. Friendships make a huge difference. I felt at home here almost instantly but I was fortunate to make some wonderful friends fast. Even though some of those friends have moved away I am not sure I am ready to start all over again in a new town.

It sounds like the SAHM thing is working working out fabulously for you! I love that front path. Beautiful!

What a wonderful feeling. We've been back here for 2 years and I'm still waiting for that feeling.

My wife and I have moved every year for the past 10 or so; we certainly know what waiting for that feeling is like! Glad you could find it.

Your view is beautiful! So glad you finally feel at home! Sometimes I wish my husband would get transferred so that I could move somewhere else and get to stay at home!

It's really hard to make friends and a new network when you're all grown up. I struggled with that moving here, but now that it's all in place.. It's amazing!

I'm SO happy that you're happy, because you deserve that. Plus, a happy mom makes for happy kids, right? :)

Sigh..... so I think I want to stay at home. Especially after my PYHO post today (thanks for stopping by ... btw.) I read the person who posted before you - and she said how she has no time for anything. Then you talk about how awesome it is. *sigh* I want it to be awesome....

Oh that is awesome! I am impressed! I am a stay-at-home mom and I don't have time to do any of those things- I barely make it to my kids' practices on time because they all seem to overlap!

We have been in our house for seven years now and it took several years before we found our niche and honestly our niche was with our fellow "sporty" families. I feels so good to feel at home.

I didn't know your girls played lacrosse. My Tween played lacrosse with the boys last year and was the first player to get a penalty in a game. We are hoping that this year we have enough girls to put together a girl's team.

How wonderful you're making friends. It takes a while for me to get to know people. I made a few great friends in my neighborhood, then they moved away. They should have consulted me first. :)
