Friday Feel Good...

It's that time again! Time to vent and let all of my frustrations out from the week so that I can move on and have a great weekend. This week I have a quite a few things to get off my chest...

1. Well water! I can't stand well water. No matter how much money you put into a filtration system, it will never be like city water. I will always have to go to battle with rust stains. I will always have tiny pieces of sediment that make it through the filter and find their way into my relaxing bubble bath which then becomes not so relaxing because I feel like I am soaking on a gritty tub floor. It will always be well water!

2. Toothpaste residue in the sinks! Is it really that hard to rinse the sink out after you spit out that last bit of toothpaste from your mouth?! It grosses me out to walk into a bathroom and see two sinks with yucky toothpaste spit in them. (I am speaking to my girls on this one.) I mean its not like I am asking them to break out the Clorox Cleanup or anything. I just want them to turn the sink on one last time after they spit. Most of the time, even with my complaint, they leave the water running the whole time they are brushing their teeth anyway. What is ten more seconds going to hurt?! Please don't attack me on this comment. I generally conserve water, we recycle, compost and we are having geothermal heating and cooling installed as I type.
;-)

3. Shoes all over the house! I am tired of tripping over shoes...little shoes (Bean), medium shoes (Ash) and xlarge shoes (Chris - size 13 W or 14). Most of the time, I am running from room to room cleaning up, sorting and moving things (mainly a big laundry basket). When I carry things in front of me as I walk it is hard to always see the shoes and well, I am just not expecting shoes to be in line with the major traffic areas of our home. I have tripped more times than anyone should over shoes. This week one of those trips left me with a bruise. Good thing the girls were at school and the hubs was at work so I had a period of cool down time or it could have gotten all kinds of crazy in this house!

4. Having food in the pantry & the fridge and my brain not being able to combine ingredients to create a meal! I think this may be because I am waiting for the world to come up with something new. What that something new is...I'm not really sure. I just know that when I open the pantry and the fridge I see the same old things and then I lose my appetite. I stand there for hours (well, minutes really) and come up with zilch, nada, zero! I think I need to branch out and start visiting some food blogs for inspiration. Anyone have any that I should check out? (I need simple cooking, people. Please don't go all gourmet on me.)

5. Raccoons! Yes, I know some people consider these furry bandits as cute but when you live where I live...they become ugly pretty quickly! They are in our trash and all of the neighborhood's trash more than I am in Target! I already cleaned up once - that is why there is trash. I do not want to clean up the actual trash! I honestly think they have a bear in their gang of thieves too because there is no way they can do the amount of damage they do on their own. Either that or they have a highly skilled raccoon in the group that is good at breaking codes and locks on the high tech garbage cans we have to buy around here! (OK, now just picturing a raccoon with his ear up to a safe, cracking the lock has me laughing. I guess raccoons can be cute. Only when they are not in my trash though!)

6. Weeds! Isn't it Fall?! Why do I still have to weed my gardens?! This is the time of year that I expect to see everything turning brown, leaves falling and my annuals dying. This is not the time of year where I want to be down on my knees weeding. The ground is cold now. It goes right through my bones. This leads me to go inside to take a bath to get my core temp back up. Then, of course, I feel the sediment in the bathtub!

So, there you have it. My rants and vents for the week. It reminds me of that saying, "Don't sweat the small stuff". I try, really I do but when you are in the moment that is a lot harder to do than to come up with that cute little saying!

I am ready to start my weekend on a good note now. We are so excited for this weekend too! Chris's oldest brother is coming out to visit us and come to both of the girls' field hockey games. I'm sure we'll eat pizza, draw a bit (because as my girls say, "Uncle Jon is the best draw-er ever!" and Chris & I agree), play a game or too and just have a great time!

What do you need to get off your chest today to start your weekend off with a bang? Dump it here in my comments and go get your weekend on!

HAPPY WEEKEND!!!

The shoe thing drives me crazy. Last year I put together a little organizational system for my three kids's shoes. They have a line of shelves with three bins to put them in. Where do they leave them now? Scattered around on the floor in front of the bins.

Makes me crazy!!!

Racoons are nuts. They come up on our back deck at night- One time I was sitting on our couch and looked out through the sliding glass doors and they were staring in at me - I think they were trying to watch Real Houswives!

Sometimes you just have to let it out so you can let it go.

I hate well water too. Thankfully we live in city limits now so we don't have that problem anymore, but our water still isn't all that great. And I get so ticked when shoes aren't left by the back door. It just makes them so much harder to find in the morning when it is time to leave.

That's great that you have an outlet for these frustrations! Mine has to do with things left on the floor, my son's bathroom and bedroom, and things that anyone could do that are left for me to do as if they are only in the mommy job description :).

I followed you here from Momma Made It Look Easy.

We have raccoons too. And they are huge, I guess because they eat so well out of our trash can.

The raccoons are insane and seem to like our garbage the best and there is never any food or edible item in it!? The toothpaste in the sink and spit make me crazy! Having the boys clean the sinks really helps there...and they even keep the water off (obssessively and without my prodding!) OH MY! Shoes are off at the front door but end up in a pile and I trip on them...the husband's shoes don't nmake it and I hear you there too:)

So excited that this is posting in a separate window:) I hope it works!

OK easy to make..."Chicken in the Pot" crock pot recipe. I leave the skin on to cook and then take it off before serving since it is soft. Line the bottom with 1 1/2c sliced onions (mmm they turned out yummy!) and then celery and carrots and whatever other veggies you want, 1 c. broth, water, or wine, and then a 3-4 lb broiler/fryer chicken. Cover and cook on high for 8-9 hrs or low for 4-5. I put it on high for 1 hr. and low the rest of the day. The meat fell off the bone we had yummy leftovers and made mashed potatoes and gravy:)

Loved your post! I can so relate. We also have shoes everywhere, though ours are much more elusive. They hide in corners and can never be found when we need them!

Also dinner generally baffles me too. I don't like repeating meals either. I am in a dinner group now, which has been good. I'm forced to cook. :)

So happy to know that I am not the only one with these frustrations! Who knew so many of us would have issues with the furry masked bandits?! They've got us (or our trash cans) right where they want us!
